Happy 7th Birthday, Ash!!!!

August 7, 2000
It was as crazy time in my life, I was a week out of surgery and in another month I would be starting chemo. Our parents had gone from being at one hospital one week for one of their daughters to another hospital a week later for their other daughter.
It was a stormy day. It was pouring down rain, the wind was blowing, there were branches falling from trees, power lines were down, electricity was out in much of the city. I don't live very far from the hospital where Ashton was born, but it took awhile to get there due to the storm.
Ashton came into our family at a time when we all needed something positive and life-affirming. She was born in a storm, and minus those first colicky months has brightened up all of our lives ever since.

The title of this post is the song that plays on the Tooth Tunes I got Ashton for her birthday.
It's also an appropriate song for how it feels outside today.
That picture amuses me way more than it should.
I accidentally took it of myself with my cell phone as I was getting out of my car when I got home today. I'm constantly doing that. Or taking pictures of the inside of my purse.
I added the crazy color to demonstrate just how HOT it is in KC right now.
That's how hot.

ha! you guyz CRACK me UP!!! I miss that!!! NO ash was NOT a fussy babe at all..... WE got caught in a rain storm today on the lake!!! luved it!!! scary...but soooo exhilerting!! think i'm nuts!! talk about ashley's eyes getting huge!! she and brady were on the tube having fun one minute the next raining like cats and dogs! alls well that ends well!thot of your "raining" blog...
that blog came about because of a freak storm that i got caught in last friday.
i was driving east down 75th st. debating between going home and running to the grocery store.
all of a sudden this steady rain just started coming down which made the decision for me. i headed straight home.
as i was driving i had this strong urge to stand in the rain and let it hit my skin (and bald head...no worries about messing up my hair).
there was no lightning, just a gentle summer rain. so once i got home i stood in my backyard and just let it drench me.
i must be nuts too...but it was a great feeling.
glad you enjoyed your storm!
SPEAKING OF AMAZING HEY VIN!!!! D.
