i felt pretty good over the weekend, ran some errands, went to a movie (sorry toye, i'll watch it again!) on saturday with vinda and kay, then to trolley's afterward.since i have been back at work, i have been feeling tired. last night i fell asleep in my chair while it was still light outside...very unkelly-like.
they are monitoring my blood closely with a test called pro time (PT/INR) to see if the lovenox injections and coumadin pills are doing their job.
Prothrombin Time (PT, Pro Time) blood test which measures how quickly blood begins to form clots; monitors blood-thinning medications.
they tested it yesterday, i found out today that my numbers are still too low or high or whatever. bottom line: they're not where they're supposed to be yet.
i go back tomorrow, and then again on monday to test them again. i'm glad my new doc's place is closer to work and home now that i am having to go there every other day. oh wait...it'll be every day this week since today i had to go in for the results. they said they will call me thursday with tomorrow's results, so i might not have to go that day...but i will be going to the imaging place for my bone scan (twice). so, more needles, more tests.
and then...i will be having an echocardiogram at menorah on monday before or after my follow-up appointment with dr. jew. they did an echo when i started chemo in '06, they want to compare those results to what is going on now to see if 2 years of chemo has done any damage to my heart.
for those interested, here's a run-down of my upcoming appointments:
07/02 - PT/INR (9:00am)
07/03 - bone scan (rescheduled - 1:30 injection/4:00 scan)
07/07 - PT/INR (9:00am)
07/07 - dr. jew - surgery follow-up/remove sutures (1:15pm)
07/07 - echocardiogram (not sure yet)
07/10 - dr. mck (12:15pm)
no steroids tonight, no chemo tomorrow. so yay about that!
terri is in town. vinda and i will be meeting her for dinner tomorrow night. another yay!
i am so looking forward to the long weekend. hopefully it will be doctor, nurse, needle (minus lovenox), and test free. seems like a lot to hope for at this point. but fireworks...big YAY!!!

Hey there girl -
I can sure understand the falling asleep in your chair thing! I HATE it. I am going to my doc tomorrow to talk about ritalin or maybe provigal to help boost energy. I'll let you know what he says....
I hope they get your blood levels higher, or lower, or whatever they need it to be!
Enjoy your weekend
Deb C
c ya 2-nite!
