Birthday Girl
Our 4 Gurlz

Hayden
Broken ankle & oh-so-cute
The last pic was taken today. She was playing at a friend's house on Wednesday and the girl fell down the bottom 2 steps and landed on Hayden's foot.
She calls it her Rock Chalk Jayhawk cast. She broke a bone at the base of the ankle joint (the corner of the fibula chipped off right at the ankle joint).
Here's wishing Hayden a happy 4th birthday, a speedy recovery, and the ability to keep smiling that beautiful smile even in the face of adversity.

As much as I don't want it, I am having a thoracentesis (lung drain) on Wednesday, 9/17. I have to stop taking Coumadin and take Lovenox (the belly injection) until after the procedure.
I truly hate this procedure, but hopefully it will clear my lung/heart up so I can breathe a little easier.
I was supposed to be going out of town for another girls' weekend next week, but this will probably throw a wrench in those plans. Cuz, you know, what's a girls' weekend without me?!? Stress-free, probably...ha!
It has been a great week.
I spent Tuesday evening with Cathi hanging out at her place, drinking margaritas and eating "TRIZZA"...that's a baked Fire Roasted Tomato & Olive Oil Triscuit, cheese & pepperoni appetizer we invented that tastes like little mini-pizzas. Delicious!
I spent Thursday evening with Toye & Stephanie hanging out in Steph's basement together just eating, drinking, and talking.
We enjoyed those same Triscuits with Alouette Garlic & Herb Spreadable Cheese. Another good combo.
Lots of girl time is good for my soul. Triscuits too apparently. I'm telling you, these things are really good...check 'em out and let me know what you think.
Tonight I am home watching the storm...and enjoying some soul-soothing music, and alone time.
Tomorrow night Cathi and I are going to see her nephew's band, Cadillac Flambe play again.
I am enjoying my 'freedom' while I can, after the lung drain comes more chemo.

view from my work windowThese were the first two songs to randomly play off of my playlist when I got to work today.
More Than This...by two different groups.
I listened to them as I watched the rain out my window at work...first this one:

I listened to them as I watched the rain out my window at work...first this one:
I could feel at the time
There was no way of knowing
Fallen leaves in the night
Who can say where they´re blowing
As free as the wind
And hopefully learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning
More than this - you know there is nothing
More than this - tell me one thing
More than this - there is nothing
It was fun for a while
There was no way of knowing
Like dream in the night
Who can say where we´re going
No care in the world
Maybe i´m learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning
More than this - there is nothing
More than this - tell me one thing
More than this - there is nothing
More Than This - Roxy Music

and then this one:
For a second of your life Tell me that it's true
Waiting for a sign
It's all I want of you
Your heart hides a secret
"the promise of what is"
...of something more than this
Just a second of your time
Any one will do
The taste of any 'other'
Is all I want from you
Offer me the world
And how can I resist
Something more than this?
Make-believe in magic
Make-believe in dreams
Make-believe in possible
Nothing as it seems
To see touch taste smell hear
But never know if it's real...
For a second of your life
Tell me if it's true
Anywhere beyond
Is all I want of you
On your lips lies a secret
"the promise of a kiss"
...of something more than this
Just a second of your time
Any one will do
To know of any 'other'
Is all I want from you
Giving me the world
Know I can't resist
Something more than this
Make-believe in magic
Make-believe in dreams
Make-believe in possible
Nothings as it seems
And never really understand
What anything means...
Another second of my life
Not knowing if it's true
Make-believe in nothing
It's all I want of you
Whisper me the secret
Whisper me...
"there is always something other...
Something more than this"
More Than This - The Cure
And then I wondered...is someone trying to tell me something?

HA...i think Terri's actually 'the party'!
thora. is at 8:45 @ st. joe. dad's taking me since they don't like you to drive afterward and all.
i am SOOOOOOOOOOOO dreading this.
ugh...how looooongg will it take?
not quite sure exactly how long....usually takes a few hours with the waiting, the pre-procedure tests, the procedure itself, and the post-procedure tests.
they have to x-ray my lung before and after to see how much fluid is around it and where it is. they have to make sure afterward that they didn't collapse my lung.
good times.
