blackeye peas for luck
Hmmm...I've always called them 'black-eyeD peas',
everything else I find does too.
Maybe Best Choice can't afford the D.

Watch here for a cool video of what we saw tonight after our sunset drive.

This light display is at Vince & Associates located at 103rd & Metcalf (more like 101st). The lights are synchronized with music that you play on your radio.

If you live in KC and haven't seen this yet, I HIGHLY recommend that you go...especially if you have kids. Or if you're like me and still get excited about Christmas lights.

The best place to watch it is from the parking lot of the church across the street.

Here is my crappy/nauseating video of it, the best part is the captured conversation in the car at the end:

"...look at lights, be happy..."

For the first time in perhaps my entire life (or at least as long as I can remember), I slept through the new year.

I woke up long enough to hear the fireworks and my phone(s) ringing, and then I went right back to sleep.

No champagne, no kisses, no HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!...just zzzzzz.

That's okay though, I can think of worse ways to start a new year. At least I was well-rested today.

I took down Christmas decorations, washed my car, chased another sunset, and enjoyed more lights before they disappear for the season.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy new years' celebration. I wish you all peace, laughter, and love in the coming year.

And music, always music....

and the best thing about new years
is the christmas lights
hiding in the day
exposed at night

up all night - widespread panic

who's Ani Defranco?

she's a singer, here's some info:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ani_DiFranco

"Although much of DiFranco's material is autobiographical, it is often also strongly political. Many of her songs are concerned with contemporary social issues such as racism, sexism, sexual abuse, homophobia, reproductive rights, poverty, and war."

i really like a lot of her lyrics,
but some can be a bit too militant for me. and typically i like her lyrics more than her music.

"...imagine you're a girl
Just trying to finally come clean
Knowing full well they'd prefer
You were dirty
And smiling...

I have been fighting the good fight
And what if there are
No damsels in distress
What if I knew that
And I called your bluff
Don't you think every kitten
Figures out how to get down
Whether or not you ever show up..."

Not a Pretty Girl
