Ever wake up and/or walk around all day with a song stuck in your head? Here's the deal: I've almost always got a song playing in my head. I have SO many favorites. Some have meaning to me, some don't. Some I like because of the lyrics, some because of the tune/composition, some I like just because of the way they make me feel.
Music is the backdrop of my life and anything I've gone through. Certain songs or groups remind me of certain people. Music is a huge part of me...it speaks to my soul and always has. Just ask anyone who knows me (and to whom I've quoted or sent lyrics). In fact, ask my parents...according to them I went through a phase as a child where I sang everything instead of spoke (sorry, Mom & Dad).
Our family didn't have a stereo back then, but I had a transistor radio that my Grandpa Kori gave me, and also a little plastic portable record player. I would play whatever kiddie records I had (Disney, The Partridges, Donny Osmond...and later KC & the Sunshine Band, Queen, Billy Joel), and a few albums that my parents had (like Henry Mancini...seriously, that's really the only album I can remember them owning. That and some Elvis record we weren't allowed to touch in case it was worth some money someday).
As a teenager I slept with a radio on my bed that played a rock station out of Chicago all night, I needed music to sleep; but I had to break that habit when I went to college. Michelle and I were roommates and she needed silence to sleep (I agree with her now).
Many of the titles of my posts are either song titles or lyrics. Music lovers (of a certain age) probably pick up on this, others probably just think my titles make no sense and don't really go with the post (and some really don't). I just appreciate words and the turn of a phrase so much that I have to plagarize them now and then.
I like REM, but I'm not, like, their biggest fan or anything. Here's my favorite song of theirs...and the song that's playing in my head today:

after reading this two songs came to mind-one that always seemed to play when we ate lunch during our sr. year at sonic "back in black" and one that simply states a fact no matter how far away we drifted "i'll always love you". always,d.
