stinkin' leaves

I kid. I actually love the changing seasons and I adore autumn. And spring...and summer. Not a big fan of winter and I only really like snow as long as I can still get out and about whenever I want...gotta be free, ya know. The downside to living where in an old neighborhood with lots of big, beautiful, ancient trees is the kajillion leaves that have to be dealt with every year. As soon as you pick up one leaf, about 20 more fall...usually right on my head as if they're mocking me.

Tuesday was an incredibly busy, but good day...I was running around doing stuff from the moment I woke up until I finally got to sit down and really relax around 11:00pm. I was exhausted and felt like I needed a day off to recuperate from my day off. But all went as planned. I got a lot accomplished and had fun at the same time, and I felt fine at work the next day.

I got my drivers license renewed. I saw a preview of the picture and it's gonna be hideous...triple chin, face breaking out, wig all askew...but oh well. I had a good conversation with an older gentleman who was standing in line behind me, so that made it all worthwhile.

After that I moved on over to the DMV and got my car licensed and registered. I got into a good conversation there with the DMV lady about books after I told her about my book club meeting that night. So that made my DMV visit fun too. I guess the lesson here is that you really can have fun anywhere if you just open yourself up to the world and the people around you.

Ran some errands and then went home to get ready for book club. I prepared a few things, and Vinda brought in the food she had prepared...it was like a professional caterer had been there, it was really amazing. It was a such HUGE help to me and I showed her my gratitude with a bottle of our favorite bubbly:

Ballatore Asti Spumate

Not nearly thanks enough for what she did for me, and this is some dirt cheap champagne, but we do LOVE the stuff and it's one of our traditions. Just in case I'm not feeling well enough next week to make it to our annual Thanksgiving night Plaze Lighting Ceremony, I told her to open it up and drink some for me.

Kansas City Plaza Lights

And book club? It was a blast. It was so good to see everyone and get caught up. My house is tiny, so it's packed when you get that many people in there, but it was still a lot of fun.

Thanks also to Julia and Kay for the happy flowers they brought to brighten things up!

your street. my street. what's the diff?

the amount of leaves is INSANE!

thankfully the trees are almost bare now though, so the raking/mulching/bagging bonanza is almost over.

heard janes addiction this morning and thought of you. those dogs barking at the beginning of 'been caught stealing' always remind me of being at the waldo playing tunes on the jukebox while drinking copious amounts of beer.

ahhh....memories!!!
