Monday Update

Chemo #9 went well on Friday. Dr. Doane continues to be pleased with my progress, which to their way of thinking means that my blood counts are going down and coming back up when/as they should, and that the side effects/symptoms aren't as major as they could be (yay me!).

It was wonderful to get to spend time with Toye and get caught up with each others' lives. We are both so busy right now, in such very different ways. Her life is step-kids, home, family, work, husband. Mine is chemo and work, and well...just fighting this seemingly never-ending battle and trying to make it through each day without losing my mind. Doing what I can when I feel like it, and doing nothing when I don't...this pattern really limits my time in so many ways. I realize that it's hard for anyone who hasn't been through any of this to understand...and honestly, I wouldn't want anyone to have to understand it. It sucks, but could be worse.

Much of my weekend was spent preparing for this week...doing laundry, cleaning house, running errands while I still felt halfway okay. Then I'd fall asleep on the couch or chair...such an exciting life I lead these days.

Back at work today, the noises and smells are already getting to me. For women, think about your worst PMS irritability and multiply it times about a million. That's what this week is like for me, only add in feeling really really super crappy on top of that. Lovely for me and all of those around me. But hey, it's a short week, so at least I've got that going for me!

i'll keep ya posted about thursday night. sounds like the weather is going to cooperate again this year!

if i can't make it, i'll be watching it on tv from home counting down with you and watching the fireworks afterward.

all that'll be missing is the annual bed-jumping, the cheap champagne in covered cups, the yummy leftovers back in the room, and of course my beautiful wagner family (gobble, gooble gooble)!

luv to you all,
~k

p.s. - still finishing up the book club leftovers. gotta get the recipe for those bean burgers!

p.p.s. - don't forget the lights for the window.
