The Song Remains the Same

Everything went well with chemo yesterday. Arrived at 9:50, saw Dr. Doane at 10:45, began chemo around 12:00, finished up at 2:30. I don't usually have to wait that long, but the holiday weekend had everything kinda backed up for everyone. Eventually I had to open up the door to the exam room I was stuck in for almost an hour, I had read everything in the room and my claustrophobia was kicking in.

Vinda was with me for the chemo part of my appointment. It was so nice to have several hours to just sit and chat one-on-one with one of my nearest and dearest friends. Other than some old people stealing our chairs, it was a great time. She went and got us lunch from Ricco's, which is always delicious. Thank you Vin for being there for me...always!

Dr. Doane and I discussed all of my recent test results, and where to go from here. Basically she is happy with my progress and the fact that I haven't had too many issues with side effects. My blood counts go down and then come back up just as they should. She is going to review my case with a nationwide panel of oncologists to see what their opinions are as to what we should do next. For now though, everything will remain the same...Taxotere/Avastin every three weeks.

I am comfortable with this pattern and know pretty much what to expect when. I have had a few minor side effects to contend with in the past few months. Finger and toenail issues, muscle/joint aches and pains...these are all normal and to be expected with the drugs I am on. I was very lucky that it took almost a year for them to hit, and that so far anyway they're not nearly as bad as they could be.

Only three days of work to get through, and then I can just take it easy over the weekend and hopefully be back to 'normal' by next week.

Thank you also to Oscar & Heather for the yummy guacamole, it was a nice treat to come back to!

Welcome, Terry! Sending smiles and hugs your way as you start the next phase of your treatment today.

I hear ya about the chemo-induced brain fog. That's my normal state of mind these days. At least we have an excuse for being spacey now. ;o)

Got your e-mail!

Vin, you'd think after 30 years of knowing each other we'd run out of things to talk about! Haaaa....US? Ab-so-lute-ly NOT!!!
