Into It

- Chemo #1 of the new drug, Doxil is today at 1:30.

- This will make a total of 55 treatments since 2006.

- 63 total in my lifetime since I had 8 back in 2000...which seems like such a small number now.

- I never know how a new drug is going to affect me, so the coming days/weeks will be a learning time for me...and re-adjusting my life accordingly.

- I stayed in last night relaxing, listening to music, singing, dancing in my garage, and making some comfort food to have on hand for tonight and into the weekend.

- A huge piece of the puzzle fell into place this week when I went to see Dr. Laura, my TMJ dentist.

- As I have said all along, I don't have TMJ. She confirmed this when she handed me some documents she had found when she did some research online.

- Every word I read matched what I have been experiencing, it was such a relief to finally have a name for it!

- Oromandibular (or cranial) dystonia is the official name for what I have.

- Mine is considered 'secondary', because it was caused by chemo drugs.

- So, I have been on the right track seeing her and doing the cranio-sacral therapy.

- In addition, I will be going back to my neurologist and seeing a pain management doctor in the coming weeks.

- Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of doctors in KC who specialize in dystonia. I will be doing more research and trying to find someone in town and on my insurance plan who can help me.

If you didn't see Oprah yesterday, I strongly urge you to check this out.

One of my favorite bloggers, Stephanie Nielson (a plane crash survivor) was on her show. What this woman has been through and continues to go through amazes me; the love of her husband, parents and siblings to pull her through this amazes me.

So inspirational!
