Honored and Touched

Trace Langley
(The Arizona sky behind him is purple, pink and white)

cool laces!

My friend Jeff Langley from West Plains contacted me on Facebook with the following question before his son, Trace's football game this past weekend:

My son Trace was wanting to know if it would be all right with you if he wore pink shoelaces and pink wristbands tonight in his football game in honor of you and the thousands of other women that are courageously fighting breast cancer??? He was hoping to put your initials on his wrist bands...Is that ok with you???

Of course I was extremely touched and honored that this young man who has never met me wanted to do something to honor me and other women fighting breast cancer. So, of course I said yes!

Here is an e-mail Jeff sent after Trace's game:

Kel, We haven't won a game in 2 weeks ....Tonight we won 30-0!!!! When Trace showed up at the game with his pink and white wristbands and pink shoelaces something really cool happened..Trace told them about your fight..All 23 boys on the team asked if I could tape them up with pink and white wristbands also....And EVERY SINGLE ONE of them knew what it was for and were really excited to be a part of it....Trace was more proud of that fact than the football game...Take care and know that for a couple of hours tonight you had 23 boys fighting their hearts out for you.....

How amazing and sweet is that? Our generation is raising some pretty cool kids with huge hearts.

Thank you to Trace and Jeff and the entire Raptors team!

I am so glad they won this game!!!

In less positive news, I have had a pretty rough weekend. Fever, body aches, high temperature, shortness of breath. I am not sure if it's the new chemo, or if I have one of the many flu bugs floating around.

Either way, I am pretty miserable. I have canceled my sonogram appointment for later today, and called in sick to work.

I am so tired of being home, but I really don't have the energy to do anything else.

I called my doctor's office to let them know what was going on and to see if there was anything else I needed to be doing.

They asked me to come in for some blood work, gave me some prescriptions, and then sent me for a chest x-ray.

Five hours later, I arrived back home around the same time I typically get home from work. Work would've been way more fun than the day I had. Resting at home would've been better, but I am glad they are taking my concerns/symptoms seriously.

My jaw has been really bad today...it always seems worse on Mondays for some odd reason. I haven't been able to eat or talk most of today. It is painful and physically drains me...not to mention I am starving and not being able to talk is pretty annoying.
