Any Port in a Storm

Port insertion surgery went well today.

Dad and I checked in at 10:00 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center branch of KCCC and we were home by 3:30.

Mom joined us at the clinic, and then again at my house afterward when she brought us dinner (thanks Mom & Dad, as always for everything!).

We would have been home much sooner, but I had asked if they could do a biopsy because my doctor, clinical trial coordinator and I are looking into doing another
clinical trial.

The trial requires a tissue sample to prove that I am indeed triple negative. The interventional radiologist (Dr. Terry Lee...love him!) was kind enough to go ahead and do it today while I was there. Ironically, he is the same doctor that did my biopsy back in 2006.

(where we spent the day)

The port is in the right side near where my first port was. I'm not sure of the exact location because there are still bandages covering everything.

I am a bit sore, but feeling okay otherwise. Glad this part is behind me and hoping the port works and doesn't rebel against me like the past two have.

It was a long day, glad it's over and I am home.

My plan is to go to work tomorrow, but that all depends on how tonight and tomorrow morning go.
