All went well with the port-a-cath insertion surgery this morning. I'm a little sore/tender, but feeling okay otherwise. Good news from the bone scan...there is no metastasis (mets) to the bones!
Another long, hard day...but it's finally over.
Here's the schedule for next week:
Tues., 5/30 - 9:30am - Thoracentesis (lung drain...again)
Wed., 5/31 - WORK...hopefully
Thurs., 6/1 - 2:45pm - Pre-Chemo Appt. (bloodwork, financial junk, educational info)
Fri., 6/2 - 9:00am - Chemo #1 (Taxotere/Avastin)
Chemo will be every 3 weeks, my plan is to do it on Fridays and hopefully go back to work on Mondays. So, here are the dates we're looking at: 6/2, 6/23, 7/14, 8/4, 8/25....and so on. Of course, that's barring any unforseen circumstances that might delay treatment (i.e. low blood counts).
It's the weekend...too bad I can't drink for another 24 hours, I could use one right about now (or not)! Seriously, I am ready to just relax and enjoy not having to see any more doctors, nurses, hospital gowns, testing equipment, or needles.
To the two most important men in my life: Dad, thank you for being there...always, since day one. Kori, thank you for coming by today and bringing the awesome food, and also being there always...well, since that lucky Friday the 13th in '73!
p.s. - I just saw my first firefly of the season tonight...that always signals the beginning of summer for me. Anyone else remember catching them and putting them in jars? Of course my cousin Tony would squeeze off their tails and smear the firefly juice on his (or my) shirt or skin so that we'd glow...boys can be so gross sometimes. Gotta love 'em!!! :o)

You've got a knack for writing. Probably comes from all the reading you do. I feel like I'm immersed in a book as I read your blog. I just wish it were better circumstances for you. Yes I remember catching fire-flies and turning some in to sparkling rings for our fingers. That was pretty cruel come to think of it. I've not seen any fire-flies in Florida. But I did see a beautiful "full" rainbow the other night. You gotta love rainbows. They're so full of promise; such a statement from God. God is awesome!
Read Psalm 96.
Love ya,
Aunt Cathy
Kelly-
You are constantly in our thoughts and "prayers". We love you so much. I am amazed at your strength and courage. Please let us know what we can do to help - we are here for you. Iz and I are soo mobile we would love to take you wherever you need to go - a sit in the park, a frozen treat, etc.
We love you! I can't tell you what it means to me to have you be Izabella's Aunt and example of what it means to be a strong, beautiful woman.
xxx,
Becky
hey kel, i am open on 6/2 or 6/23. Would be honored to accompany you!AND bring the refried beans and tapioca! ugh! i used to do that too...dunno why we didnt realize how cruel that was! love the fireflys!
Kelly,
Just wanted to let you know that you're in my thoughts and my prayers. If you want to get away from KC and soak up some rays, we have a guest room and a swimming pool in the back yard. August would be a good month for a visit if you like it hot, if not, September should still be nice and warm here in Bakersfield. Thanks for keeping us in the loop with your blog!
Warmly,
Terrill
I hope you know my little woman warrior, that I will do anything I can for you at anytime,JUST ASK and I will turn the world upside down to get to you!!!!

Hi Kelly,
I wanted to let you know that your in my prayers, and to let you know that anything I can step up and help a friend in need I am totally there for you. I work in Overland Park also, not too far away. You are indeed a warrior, and you have alot of support, it's because you're a special soul. Kathy
Kelly, you have such a positive attitude, girl! Keep it up. The portacath is SO much better than infinite needle sticks. Sounds like you have a good healthcare team working for you. Keeping my fingers crossed.
