Weekend's Over

How dang cute are these 4 nieces of mine?!!? This pic is from yesterday at Kori & Becky's.

Today I had the thoracentesis, not a fun thing to have done...but it's over now. Dad took me to Dr. Doane's afterward to have some more blood taken, then he brought me home to rest. Thanks Dad for driving me around, waiting for me, mowing my yard again, and hanging out with me afterward to make sure I was feeling okay!

I napped for a bit, then I went to book club which was held at Vinda's house this month. I wanted to tell the girls in person about what's been going on. I wasn't sure how I was going to bring it up, but it came up naturally when Lela mentioned a book that she's been reading that I coincidentally happen to be reading as well. The book is 'Nordie's at Noon' which was written by 4 KC girls who were diagnosed with breast cancer in their 20's & 30's (see link below) . These amazing women along with others were instrumental in starting the KC chapter of the Young Survival Coalition and Ribbons of Pink (see links below). I met them all through YSC and ROP, and a few of them are/were also patients of Dr. Jew and Dr. Doane.

Sooooo.....while I wanted the book club girls to know, I didn't want the entire meeting to be about me, and luckily it wasn't. We talked about this month's book ('Honeymoon with my Brother'...link below), and a lot of other stuff, so that was good. I love my book club girls (Hi Vinda, Lela, Jennifer, Kay, Kathy, Leisha, Diane, & Julia!), so I was very glad that I was feeling well enough to be able to go tonight. Thank you, Vinda for the great food, leftovers, and for the coconut...you're an awesome friend and hostess!

I'm going to work tomorrow and am looking forward to seeing everyone and getting some work done. I told Dad today that it's pretty sad when you're actually looking forward to settling into a routine schedule of work and chemo!

Thanks for sharing your story with us at bookclub. I enjoy reading your blog and am glad we will know what's going on with you every step of the way.
You are a very strong woman with LOTS of support. I know you can beat this.
I will be thinking about you tomorrow. I'm glad Vinda's going with you.
Love,
Leisha
P.S. I got 'Nordies at Noon' yesterday.
