Dr. Jew's nurse called me today to tell me that the port insertion surgery is scheduled for this coming Friday, 5/26 at 8:30am. My appt. with Dr. Doane has been rescheduled for 2:45pm that same day.
On a positive, non-medical related note, a division teambuilding/lunch event that I put together took place today and somehow in the midst of all this turmoil it went off without a hitch....yea me!!! We went to Liberty Memorial which was perfect timing with Memorial Day coming up. It was very touching to see all of the WWI memorabilia and it brought to mind all of the veterans of every war, especially those we know and love (thank you, Tony!), those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and those who are still 'over there' fighting for our freedom. I went to the top of the memorial for the first time and enjoyed an awe-inspiring view of Kansas City, I want to go back now for a night tour...I think that view would be even better. After our tour, we then headed over to the Union Cafe at Union Station for a delicious lunch. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I work for a great company!
Dr. Jew called me this evening and we spoke for about 25 minutes about everything that's going on and what's to come. She is so calm and positive, I'm very blessed to have her in my life but I'm not really looking forward to seeing her on Friday.
