~*~ Happy Memorial Day!!! ~*~
It's been a great, long weekend. I was tired and sore Friday night and into Saturday, so I just took it easy at home. I finally talked to Michelle late Saturday night and broke the news to her. I told her that it almost felt like if one of my best/oldest friends didn't know about it, maybe it wasn't actually happening. Now she knows, so I guess it's really happening.
She then surprised me by calling early Sunday morning saying that she was heading up to KC from Springfield to spend the day with me, she declared it "Kelly Martin Day" and said we'd do whatever I wanted (uhhh...isn't that every day? haha). What did I want to do you might ask? A little shopping, a trip to Jose Peppers for 2 for $7 margaritas and a huge meal, a nap (we were too stuffed to go to Loose Park), then watching 'Brokeback Mountain' (since no one else wanted to watch it with us). It was so nice to just hang out together, reminisce, and of course laugh...thanks so much, Shell! My life is bigger and definitely better because of you as well. Above is a picture of Michelle and I at our college graduation in '87, it was our third graduation together. Look how young we look/were!!! Hard to believe that was almost 20 years ago.
Today I went to Kori, Becky & Izabella's for our family's Memorial Day get-together. Mom & Dad; Tracy, Tony & my 3 nieces were all there. Kori grilled out for us and made homemade ice cream, it was delicious! Jordan and Ashton were so sweet, they both presented me with a scarf that they had individually picked out. Each scarf reflects their personality and taste. Jordan's is red, white & blue with hawaiian flowers and stars on the border. Ashton's is pink, red and white striped. They're both gorgeous and I love them...thank you Jordan, Ashton, and Tracy for my extra special scarves! Also thanks for the "incidentally" notebook and purple bracelets from Kelly's neighbor. For everyone else reading this, these bracelets are those rubber ones everyone wears these days, but this one says "incidentally....cancer sucks!" I know that's right.
It was so great to just be around my family for a few hours...watching Jordan & Ashton dance & tumble, Hayden toddling around speaking in her own little language, and Iz blessing us with that beautiful gummy baby smile! Seriously, life really doesn't get much better than that.
I love you all very much,
~Kel

I have been praying for you and will continue to. Thanks for the specific dates of your appts; I've marked my calendar so you'll especially be in my thoughts on those days.
Love,
Kristin
