(click on picture to go to Nita Hope's View From Here site)

Nita Hope is a woman who posts on the Breast Cancer Support Group. She has put out a CD...go to her site to hear the songs, and to read the lyrics and the story behind each song. I've also added a link to her site over in the "Stuff I Like" section in the sidebar to the right.

This is what her home page says:

"Welcome to a world of hope. And survival.

Hope's music captures the longing and fierce determination of survivors everywhere.

A portion of every CD sold will benefit www.bcsupport.org, an international breast cancer online support organization.

Reach out. Give. Live."

And here are the lyrics to two of the songs on her CD:

Get Up

“You can find your way
Even in the dark”

Maybe you think you think you don’t know what you’re doin’
Maybe you think it’s jes a waste of time
Maybe you laid out from all this fightin’
Maybe you jes lookin’ for a sign
To get up
Hmmmmm

Signs are hard to see in this confusion
Everything could turn upon a dime
Sometimes life is all about illusion
Maybe now is not the time
To give up
Give up
Hmmmmm

Gods of Irony workin’ you over
You know what this takes
You're caught between a rock and a hard place
Only you know what you’re feelin’
You got to trust yourself
You know what to do
Better than anyone else

The time will come for makin' your own choices
The time wiil come for makin’ your own way
The time has come to block out other voices
Time to hear just what you have to say.
so
get up
get up
get up

Lately all the news is bad you’re gettin’
Lately you can’t catch a single break
Lately all the noise if filled with frettin’
Lately you are wonderin’ if fate
Says
Give up
Give up

Maybe there is somethin’ ‘round the corner
Maybe there is hope beneath the pain
Maybe you can take it a little longer
Maybe that’s salvation through your veins
Get up

Out of the ashes, rises a woman
Tested by trials, born out of pain
Spreading her wings
Colored with wisdom
Soaring to live, live, live
To fly again

Out of the ashes
Livin’ the moment, wearin’ hope’s armor
Plungin’ ahead.
Startin’ life over
Knowin’ the time’s short
Learnin’ to live, live, live
To fly again

~~~~~~~~~~
Totally separate and completely unrelated public service announcement: If you're going through chemo and wearing a scarf on your head don't act like you're going to throw up in the grocery store when you see a container in the meat department labeled "pork brains" unless you want some guy to stop his cart mid-roll and stare at you like you're an alien. Sorry mister, but they just looked and sounded really gross and I thought you were someone else. Do people really eat that stuff, are there recipes for pork brain stew out there? (Okay, I just looked it up, there are recipes. Ummm...ewww.)
OMG, the pig brains thing is TOO funny. I think I might have you beat though! My mom and I went to this great Asian market in Anchorage. They have great food, but a lot of it is things that I have never heard of before. We were walking past a freezer section where a guy was unloading stuff. One of the things he was putting in the freezer was packages of pig uterus. I kid you not! I laughed and asked him if people actually ate them and he laughed and said they must because he has to stock them all the time. We walked down another isle and when we came back past him there was a tiny little woman loading up her cart with about 6 big packages of PIG UTERUS! The stock guy asked her how she cooked them and she said in broken English that she “stuff, put in steamer, verrrry good!” I thought I was going to die from suppressing laughter! Do you think that other people look at us in disgust at the things we eat?
You have to keep laughing 
Hi Deb,
By the time you read this you'll probably only have ONE more rad to go...or maybe even NONE!!! That is such a great feeling! What in the world are you going to do with all the extra time you'll have now?
I'm waiting on ordering the CD since my b-day is coming up in December, and then there's Christmas (hint, hint to any of my family reading this).
Okay, you definitely have me beat on the pig parts with the uterus. That is absolutely disgusting! But I'm sure hot dogs have all kinds of nasty parts in them and I love a good grilled or ballpark hot dog every now and then.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as you get zapped for the LAST time!!!!
Take Care,
Kelly
