Sister Mine

~*~ Happy Birthday, Tracy!!! ~*~

(look at that face!)

Sister mine,
so striking
stunning
beautiful,
I have guarded you.
Alongside me
I’ve watched you blossom
and now our bodies
begin to age.
They ripen
and we suffer time.

(looks like I'm trying to strangle her...and I look like Half Pint)

Sister child,

my first held
first loved,
as I am yours.
Before we understood
the sound of laughter,
we laughed together
Today
we are still laughing.

(check out those groovy matching 70's dresses)

Sister friend,

my insecurities
inconsistencies
and shortcomings,
you have tolerated them.
You capture the fruit
of my shameful predictability
and prepare it for me
at your own stunning table.
You sculpt me into camaraderie.

(again with the matching clothes, only this time it wasn't planned
by us or our mom.
I came into KC from college and we had on the same outfit.
Had to capture that on film!)

Sister spirit,

sweet sister,
amazing mother,
true mother,
you have known me.
Near to mine,
your heart is fertile
and still our bodies
continue changing.

(she's a natural)

Sister mother,

I gratefully embrace
your maternity:
It has given life
that mine could not.

Dear sister, you are
beauty
strength
kindness
hilarity
abundantly, creatively, and most truly
redefined.

I've loved you since day one
and always will.

Happy Rainy Birthday!!!

You are awesome with that very beautiful tribute to your sister. Is that poetry an original Kelly Martin?
