Chances Are

I was doing one of two things today: either 1) sleeping, or 2) eating. I called in sick to work and pretty much just alternated between the two all day. My body obviously needed the rest, not so sure about all that food though!

I did reschedule my weekly Friday bloodwork appointment for today at 2:30 so that I wouldn't have to take extra time off of work tomorrow.

As (my crazy) luck would have it, right as I walked in the front door (literally) all power in the doctor's building went out. Therefore, I had 5 techs around me trying to draw my blood in the dark...one held the flashlight, one held the needle, while the three others cheered us on. It was quite an experience!

All went well, but needless to say they couldn't process the results until they had power again. Later in the afternoon the nurse called to let me know that my counts are down into the danger zone, as they should be at this point.

So, I'm on lockdown for now...just waiting to rebound back up into normal range.

Hey Kelly-

just wanted to stop in and say HI. Sorry to hear your counts were down. Are you on Neulasta? I did great on it and kept my white count up, but the bone pain was nasty. I hope you start to bounce back soon. Oh, and i say if you are hungy, EAT! Your body has to rebuild so many cells with each chemo. It needs lots of fuel. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Hi Deb,

Enjoying your chemo-free days? I'm sure you're still dealing with some of the crazy side effects.

Your surgery is next week, right? Just one more step toward being DONE with all this!!!

They're really not worried about my counts being so low since that's exactly where they're supposed to be right now. They've always climbed back up to where they need to be by the time I get chemo again, so the chemo and my body are doing what they're supposed to be doing right on schedule...so far!

You know the drill though...just be extra careful when they're this low, don't eat certain things, don't be around sick people, take your temperature, watch for infection, yadayadayada.

Very good point about eating and the body needing fuel to rebuild itself. Bring on the food!!! :o)

Hope you have a great weekend!!!
