Kelly & Tracy ~ 1971A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves
and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double.
~Toni Morrison
We talked non-stop to each other and to the nurses and some of the people around us...which might've irritated some of the non-talkers in the area, but we actually had fun at chemo! She ran and got us those delicious coconut chicken salads from Ricco's which is right across the street (at College & Quivira), she knows the owners and they have excellent food. If you haven't been there yet, you should definitely check it out.
We got there around 10:30, but since there was a mix-up with some of the lab work they had done yesterday (argh!), they didn't start my chemo until 12:00. In the meantime, I saw Dr. Doane and she was very pleased with my progress. Once they finally got the chemo going, it only took about 3 hours this time.
After chemo I made one stop to finalize the bathroom rug mission I've been on and then just headed home. I'm feeling good so far, but as the pattern has shown itself, I'm expecting to have a rough week ahead.
Thank you to my sister/friend for being with me today...it meant more to me than you'll ever know to have you by my side. You sat with me in a not-so-fun place for 5 hours and made it fun and special at the same time!
To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time. ~Clara Ortega
