Here is the wig I found and purchased today! The color will be a little different, but this is very close.
There is a little wig shop tucked away in old downtown Overland Park called Doris' that I hadn't been to until this morning. I've known about this store all along from my first time around, but didn't think they'd have anything any different than what I had already seen. I stopped in there without an appointment while I was out running errands and as fate would have it, I found my wig!
The woman who owns the store (Linda) was nice enough to let me slide in since her 10:30 appointment was running late. I got to try on several wigs before they showed up at 10:50. This one is the last one I tried on and I finally felt excited about a wig that felt and looked like ME. I left there without buying it because I didn't want to make a big purchase like that without thinking about it first, especially after having gone to both Brian Joseph's and Missy's Mirror twice in the past week.
I called Mom and Cathi to get their opinions and they both agreed that they hadn't heard me this excited about any of the other wigs I had tried and that I should go for it. I called Linda and set up an appointment to come back later in the afternoon so Mom and I could look at it together.
In the meantime, I ran my errands and then met up with Vinda at Brady's baseball game. After watching them win (YEA!!!), she and I went to lunch at Mimi's Cafe. It was my first time there and I LOVED it! They even gave me 4 free muffins to take home when they heard it was my first time being there. Thank you, Vin for lunch and for my favorite, super-soft towels!!!
Mom and I met up at Doris' for her to see the wig at 3:00, she agreed that it was definitely ME. We deliberated about the color being a bit too light, so I might have a darker shade to try this coming week if the wig company has it in stock. Either way I should have my wig by Wednesday.
Good thing too...my hair is slowly coming out. More hair falls out when I wash it, so I've been walking around with dirty hair all weekend (yuk). I'm trying to wait until Monday when I have to go to work, we'll see if I can make it 'til then!

I love reading your blog and I love the wig you've chosen. I think a lot about getting a wig because of the thinning of my own hair due to aging and having had the same part for ions. Someday I'll check them out and hope I can find one that looks as natural as this one.
Have you tried the Nioxin products? They are good for thinning hair. You can find them in a beauty supply store. Here in KC they are called Beauty Express, Trade Secrets, and Beauty Brands. I'm not sure what they're called in Jax though. You might want to try that before you resort to a wig in that Florida heat/humidity!
Here is a link to their site:

Kel,
I dig the wig! Very cute and stylish. Hope you had a great weekend. Guess what? No...not that. Megan begins volleyball this week. I have no idea if she'll like it or not. She's also playing baseball right now. Nothing much new here...I like that, too, right now.
Love ya,
Shell
Shell,
I'm sure she'll be a natural athlete with her genes!
