All in all it was a very good day with only a few glitches at the doctor's office. Without going into all the boring details, bottom line is: don't mess with someone on chemo day...it's already stressful enough without adding to that stress.I had a very pleasant morning, I got up early and went for a walk at Loose Park. Stopped in the Prairie Village shops to grab a bagel, smoothie, and a few groceries (my new addiction these days: Rice Krispy Treats). So I got to do a few of my favorite things before Dad came to get me and take me to my appointment (thank you, Dad!!!). Didn't have to fix my hair, so that was cool!
Chemo was a little shorter this time...only about 4 hours (12-4). It went well, and I'm still feeling pretty good. I got a window seat and me and some other ladies who were there had a nice chat. I had the nurse leave out one of the anti-drugs (Ativan) they gave me last time, so I think that might've helped. I'm starting to think that Ativan might not as great of a friend as I originally thought it was. I might not have a choice but to take it to get some sleep while I'm on the Decadron, but I might look into getting a prescription for Ambien instead.
After chemo, Dad brought me home. Kori was here mowing my lawn, and had brought me some salad (thank you, bro!!!). Mom came over after work, and me, her and Dad went out for Chinese and then I took them to the rose garden at Loose Park (thank you, Mom & Dad!!!). Little hint: it's much better to go there in the morning as opposed to evening, there's a whole different vibe going later in the day that's not quite as peaceful and friendly. And this is coming from a night person!
Thank you to everyone for the continued support, prayers, cards, phone calls, e-mails, and blog comments...they mean the world to me!

Glad to hear your chemo went well!
Just an FYI on Ambien...I take it the first 2 nights after chemo and it works great for me. I would talk to your Doc about the Ambien CR. It is a controlled release pill that works a bit better for me than regular Ambien. I can get a real 7 or 8 hours of sleep with it as opposed to 5 or 6 with the regular Ambien.
Hope you have a restful weekend.

Hi Deb!
Does it make you groggy/fuzzy the next day? I think the Ativan was messing with me in that way. I feel so much clearer this time since I haven't had any.
I've actually been up and active today. Walked to the post office (about 30 mins.), and then did some piddling around in my yard. It feels good to just be outside in the fresh air, and moving around.
I figure I might as well when I feel good, cuz when I'm not my butt'll be stuck inside!
Did you have your last Taxol this week?
Hope you're doing well and having a good weekend!
Hugs,
Kelly
Hey Kelly-
One of the resons I stuck with the Ambien CR is that I have no groggy feeling at all the next day. I also have Valium, but that makes me feel like a zombie! So far the valium is the only thing that works for muscle cramps in my legs, so I end up taking one or two a week.
I still have 3 more weekly Taxol. Number 10 is on Monday.
I am actually awake today. For the first time all week I feel like doing something. Did some work in the garden, went for a little walk...it was nice. We are going to a friends for a cook-out tonight, so that should be fun.
Hope you continue to have a good weekend!

I'll have to ask my doc about the ambien cr next time I see her. It sounds much better.
Only 3 more to go, you are SO close to being done with this part. I know you've got surgery and rads ahead, but chemo seems to be the worst part of all of this. So hang in there!!!
Sounds like we had similar days today...time outside feels so great! Hope you had fun at your friend's bbq!!!
